Community Groups

Find your people at King's Church

You need people who know the Bible and know you

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo project. On Sundays we gather as a large family, but throughout the week we scatter into Community Groups—smaller circles of people who eat together, open the Bible together, and live on mission together.

These groups are where King’s Church becomes personal: prayers get specific, friendships get real, and needs get met. If you want to grow in worship, gospel transformation, and everyday mission, a Community Group is the next step.

We are a church of Community Groups, not a church with Community Groups

Discipleship happens in relationships

Open Bible, open life

When life gets hard, you need the word of God in you and the people of God around you

Ready to connect to a Community Group? Here's How

The Weekender provides an introduction to Community Groups at King’s. We start new groups for new people, which means when you get plugged into a Community Group, it will be mostly made up of new people, just like you! We’ll help you find the group that meets on your preferred night of the week and is near your neighborhood. We have the Weekender about every 6 weeks, so you will never have to wait too long to get connected with a Community Group!

We often say that our groups are closed from the outside but open from the inside. If you know someone in a Community Group, ask that person about his or her group. If there is still room in the group, it’s a great way to plug in and be easily connected.

Filling out the Community Group Information Request will put you in contact with a staff member who will help you take your next step in getting connected to a group or the Weekender.

To get plugged into a High School or Middle School Community Group, you can get more information at the Students page. To get plugged into a College Group, you can find more information on at the College page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Community Groups meet weekly.

Groups will be around two hours depending on the activity or the needs of the group.

Groups will have a large range of demographics. Some groups will be arranged by geography, and some will be arranged by age and stage. Our hope is that some groups will also be multi-generational, multi-racial, as well as socio-economically diverse.

Our Community Groups are led by Community Group Leaders who have gone through assessment and training with King's Church. Each of our Community Groups are led by men with the assistance of a Women’s Lead. Our Women’s Community Groups are led by women.

Each group will be different. The average Community Group is around 15 adults (plus kids).

Community Groups will follow a sermon-guided discussion model. Groups will dig deeper into previous week’s sermon and Scripture, and they use this as a basis to grow in obedience-based discipleship.

At King’s Church, our Community Groups multiply leaders. One of the Community Group Leaders primary responsibilities is to raise up and develop apprentices who will be sent out to start new Community Groups for new people. Most groups will send out a new leader each year.

Every Community Group Leader is first a member of King’s Church (giving, serving, and attending church and CG) and also a model Community Group member. In other words, they’re all in with King’s Church before they begin to lead a Community Group.

So, if you’re a member and are a meaningful part of your Community Group, talk with your CG Leader about leading a group in the future and they can help get you connected with our Staff to be assessed as a potential Apprentice.

If you would like more information or have additional questions about leading a Community Group, please contact Pastor Conor at conor@kingsilm.com.
